Xiaomi has shaken up the luxury electric sedan market with the launch of the SU7 Ultra, priced at 529,900 yuan ($72,931.72)—35% lower than its initial pre-order price. A limited edition remains at 814,900 yuan. Customers who order before March’s end will receive lifetime free access to Xiaomi’s Human-centric Autonomous Driving (HAD) system, which usually costs 26,000 yuan.
The SU7 Ultra features a tri-motor powertrain, 1,548 horsepower, 0-100 km/h in 1.98 seconds, and a top speed of 350 km/h. A high-performance version set a Nürburgring lap record in November, beating the Rimac Nevera and Porsche Taycan Turbo GT. Xiaomi’s rapid progress challenges ZEEKR, which previously claimed no competitor could match its level for five years.
At the same event, Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi 15 Ultra smartphone, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Supreme Edition chip, dual-satellite communication, and AI-enhanced network performance. It enables network-free calls up to 7 km and supports satellite messaging via DingTalk. Priced from 6,499 yuan, it launches on March 3.
Xiaomi plans to invest 30 billion yuan ($4.3 billion) in R&D, with one-quarter dedicated to AI. CEO Lei Jun reaffirmed the company’s commitment to integrating AI into consumer products, enhancing everyday experiences with cutting-edge technology.
