Vietnam has approved a $67 billion high-speed railway connecting Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City. Spanning over 1,500 kilometers, the railway will cut travel time from 30 hours to just five. Approved by the National Assembly, construction will start in 2027, with operations expected by 2035. The railway will serve 20 provinces with 23 passenger and five freight stations, transporting people, goods, and supporting defense needs. Delays in past infrastructure projects raise concerns about its timeline.
