China’s visa-free policy is attracting a surge of South Korean tourists, especially to popular cities like Shanghai, Qingdao, and Beijing. This policy, effective since November 8 for South Korean passport holders, has boosted arrivals significantly.
China’s broader visa-free policies, expanded since 2023, have fueled international travel. In 2024, foreign visits to China reached 29.2 million, with 17.4 million benefiting from visa-free access. Recent updates include extending visa-free transit stays to 240 hours (10 days), allowing easier travel for tourists and business visitors.
Experts highlight that these policies not only boost tourism but also strengthen cultural ties and economic growth.
