Tesla is recalling over 46,000 Cybertrucks in the U.S. due to a defect that could cause an exterior panel to detach while driving, posing a safety hazard. The recall covers nearly all Cybertrucks produced between November 2023 and February 2024. This setback adds to Tesla’s struggles, as the company faces declining stock value, increased competition, and criticism of CEO Elon Musk.
Analysts note that the recall highlights long-avoided quality concerns and could further damage Tesla’s reputation. Demand for the Cybertruck had already been waning, with delays and growing consumer backlash leading to protests and sales declines.
