Sri Lanka’s presidential election is confirmed to take place within the mandated period and the current timeline, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD). The PMD also stated that the parliamentary election is scheduled for 2025, with necessary funding to be allocated in the 2025 budget. The Election Commission is responsible for organizing the elections, and the government will coordinate with them as needed. The cabinet of ministers had recently approved a proposal allocating 10 billion rupees (about $32 million) for elections in 2024. As per the country’s constitution, the upcoming presidential election is required to be held before October 17, 2024.
