A powerful solar storm reached Earth on Thursday, possibly affecting recovery efforts for hurricanes Helene and Milton, according to NOAA. The storm, caused by a coronal mass ejection from the sun, reached Earth at 11:15 a.m. and hit severe (G4) levels. NOAA warned the storm could disrupt communications, power grids, and GPS. The aurora might be visible as far south as Alabama and northern California. The storm watch will continue through Friday.
