Monika Staab, Technical Director of Women’s Football at the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, suggested at a conference in London that Saudi Arabia should bid to host the 2035 Women’s World Cup. Saudi Arabia has already submitted a bid for the 2034 men’s World Cup. If successful on both fronts, it could be the first country to host consecutive men’s and women’s World Cups. This might impact England’s hopes of hosting the event, as they are considering a bid for the 2031 tournament. However, if a joint bid from Germany, Netherlands, and Belgium for the 2027 edition succeeds, England may have to wait until 2035. Saudi Arabia has been investing heavily in various sports, including football, signaling its commitment to global sports prominence. The country is also aiming to qualify for a Women’s World Cup within the next decade and is in contention to host the Women’s Asian Cup in 2026.
