Rains in southern Brazil kill at least 39, some 70 still missing

Heavy rains in Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul state have caused significant damage, resulting in 39 reported deaths and leaving 68 people missing. More than half of the state’s cities have been affected, with at least 24,000 people displaced. Rescue efforts are ongoing, and the death toll is expected to rise as more people are accounted for.
