Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed China’s willingness to elevate its relationship with the Federated States of Micronesia during a meeting with Micronesian President Wesley W. Simina in Beijing. Xi reiterated China’s support for Micronesia’s sovereignty and development path, emphasizing cooperation in various fields including infrastructure, education, and culture. China pledged assistance in addressing climate change and promoting South-South cooperation. Simina reaffirmed Micronesia’s adherence to the one-China principle and expressed gratitude for China’s assistance, aiming to deepen cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative in sectors like agriculture and digital economy. Both leaders witnessed the signing of bilateral agreements covering diverse areas like infrastructure, health care, and green development, aiming to strengthen ties and promote regional peace and development.
