A new study reveals that over 3,600 chemicals used in food packaging and preparation have been found in human bodies, with around 100 classifieds as potentially hazardous. Chemicals such as PFAS and bisphenol A, which are already under regulation due to health concerns, were detected. However, little is known about many of the other chemicals, including oligomers, prompting calls for further research. The study highlights the potential risks these chemicals pose to human health and recommends minimizing exposure to packaging, especially when heating food. The EU is moving toward banning some of these harmful substances.
