On the fourth day of the Paris Olympics, China’s Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha won gold in table tennis mixed doubles, defeating North Korea’s Ri Jong Sik and Kim Kum Yong. South Korea’s Lim Jonghoon and Shin Yubin took bronze.
Team USA secured gold in the women’s artistic gymnastics team final, with Simone Biles earning her fifth Olympic gold. Italy won silver and Brazil took bronze.
Great Britain claimed gold in the men’s 4×200-meter freestyle relay final, followed by the United States with silver and Australia with bronze. China’s Pan Zhanle advanced to the men’s 100-meter freestyle final, and Dong Zhihao advanced to the men’s 200-meter breaststroke final.
Ireland’s Daniel Wiffen won gold in the men’s 800-meter freestyle, beating USA’s Bobby Finke and Italy’s Gregorio Paltrinieri. Australian Kaylee McKeown set an Olympic Record in the women’s 100-meter backstroke, with Americans Regan Smith and Katharine Berkoff taking silver and bronze.
In basketball, Team China advanced in women’s 3×3 basketball. Italy won gold in women’s epee team fencing, defeating France, with Poland taking bronze.
The men’s triathlon and surfing events were postponed due to water quality concerns.
