Keir Starmer, in his first speech as British Prime Minister from Downing Street, promised that his Labour government would commence national renewal from day one. “The work of change begins immediately. But have no doubt, we will rebuild Britain,” he declared. This speech followed Labour’s landslide election win, ending 14 years of Conservative rule.
