NATO has initiated “Exercise Steadfast Defender 2024,” its largest military drills in decades. The exercises involve the deployment of military assets across the Atlantic and will take place in various locations until May 31. Approximately 90,000 troops from NATO’s 31 members and Sweden are expected to participate. The scale of the drills has drawn attention, with Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko stating that it marks NATO’s “irrevocable return” to Cold War schemes.
