Leaders from Egypt, Türkiye, and Iran gathered in Cairo for the 11th Summit of the Developing Eight (D-8) Organization, addressing regional issues, including conflicts in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria. Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi highlighted challenges like the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and regional instability. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called for unified action against Israeli “aggressions,” marking the first Iranian presidential visit to Egypt in 11 years.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized rebuilding Syria and expanding D-8 membership, welcoming Azerbaijan as a new member. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto urged solidarity and cooperation for sustainable development.
The summit also focused on empowering youth and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to shape the future economy. Attendees included leaders like Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, who appealed for Arab support in Lebanon’s reconstruction.
