The Israeli cabinet unanimously approved the closure of Al Jazeera’s operations in the country, citing concerns about national security. The ban applies to both Al Jazeera Arabic and Al Jazeera English for an initial period of 45 days, with the possibility of extension. Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi announced the decision, stating that those inciting against Israel would no longer be allowed to broadcast from the country, with their equipment subject to confiscation. Al Jazeera denounced the move, calling it a violation of the right to access information.
