Hamas denied proposing new ideas for a UN-backed ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, according to Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan and an anonymous source who reiterated their commitment to the May 5 mediator proposal. This came after U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken suggested Hamas had made changes to the ceasefire and hostage deal, describing some as workable. Blinken did not label the Hamas response as a rejection, unlike Israeli officials who claimed Hamas had rejected the proposal. Blinken emphasized ongoing efforts with partners to bridge gaps and reach an agreement.
