Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter dies aged 100

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter died peacefully at his home in Plains, Georgia, on December 29, 2024, at the age of 100. He had been in hospice care since February 2023. Known for his commitment to peace, human rights, and service, Carter was the 39th U.S. president from 1977 to 1981 and played a key role in establishing U.S.-China diplomatic relations in 1979. He was the longest-living U.S. president in history.
