Tang Qianting of China won gold in the women’s 100-meter breaststroke at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup in Shanghai, setting a new Asian short-course record with a time of 1:02.53. Tang narrowly missed the world record by 0.17 seconds and expressed her desire to break it in the future. Alina Zmushka of Belarus took silver, and Rebecca Meder of South Africa won bronze.
In other events, Qin Haiyang of China set a new Asian record in the men’s 50-meter breaststroke, while Pan Zhanle finished second in the men’s 100-meter freestyle behind Italy’s Thomas Ceccon.
