Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed China’s willingness to collaborate with the new Cambodian government to continue and strengthen the longstanding friendship between the two nations. Wang’s remarks came during a meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister-designate Hun Manet. The new Cambodian government is dedicated to fostering positive relations with China, and Hun Manet conveyed this sentiment to Wang.
Cambodia aims to enhance high-level interactions with China, bolster strategic coordination, and swiftly negotiate and ratify an updated version of the action plan for establishing a shared future between China and Cambodia. Hun Manet emphasized that Cambodia adheres to the one-China principle, affirming its position on matters related to Taiwan, Xinjiang, Xizang (Tibet), and Hong Kong.
Wang, on his part, emphasized China’s commitment to strengthening ties with Cambodia’s new leadership. He aimed to cultivate a more profound and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two nations, ushering in an era characterized by high-quality, high-level, and high-standard collaboration within the China-Cambodia community with a shared future.
Wang’s Southeast Asia tour included stops in Singapore and Malaysia before concluding in Cambodia.
