China and Myanmar have agreed to work together on several key issues, including fighting cross-border crime, boosting economic ties, and supporting regional stability. This agreement was made during a meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Myanmar’s Deputy Prime Minister U Than Swe in Nay Pyi Taw.
Wang highlighted the longstanding friendship between China and Myanmar, built on mutual support and the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. He emphasized China’s commitment to deepening their partnership through the Belt and Road Initiative, ongoing reforms, and economic development.
Both sides agreed to maintain high-level exchanges, enhance political trust, and advance the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, including the oil and gas pipeline project. They also plan to strengthen cooperation in agriculture, energy, and tourism to improve livelihoods in Myanmar.
As they look forward to the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year, both countries will focus on cultural exchanges and public support. Myanmar has pledged to safeguard Chinese project personnel and ensure security at the border.
The two nations also discussed Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, agreeing to implement goals from the fourth LMC Leaders’ Meeting and promote regional development and integration.
