China has launched the “Sky Net 2025” campaign to intensify its efforts against corruption fugitives, recover illicit assets, and combat cross-border corruption. Announced on Monday, the initiative is part of China’s broader strategy to maintain pressure on individuals who have fled abroad with illegally obtained funds.
According to the Central Anti-Corruption Coordination Group, different authorities will oversee specific aspects of the crackdown. The National Commission of Supervision will focus on recovering illegal proceeds linked to duty-related crimes, while the People’s Bank of China and the Ministry of Public Security will target illicit fund transfers through offshore companies and underground banking networks.
China has long maintained a tough stance on corruption. In the previous “Sky Net 2024” campaign, authorities successfully repatriated 1,597 fugitives and recovered over 18.28 billion yuan ($2.55 billion) in illicit assets. The new phase of the campaign aims to build on this momentum and strengthen international anti-graft cooperation.
