China has developed the world’s first hydrogen-powered smart tram, which is now being exported to Malaysia. The tram, created by China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute, has left its production site in Zhuzhou and will be shipped from Shanghai to Malaysia. It will be used for urban transportation in Kuching, the capital of Sarawak in Malaysia. This high-tech tram uses a hydrogen energy power system, offering benefits such as longer driving range, shorter refueling time, and energy efficiency. The tram will undergo testing in Kuching for three months, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion and provide a reliable and modern mode of transportation. Additionally, this project demonstrates China’s commitment to smart manufacturing and supporting countries along the Belt and Road initiative.
