Canada will impose 25% tariffs on U.S. goods worth C$30 billion starting February 4, in response to U.S. tariffs on Canadian imports. The affected products include orange juice, peanut butter, wine, coffee, and appliances. A second round of tariffs on U.S. goods worth C$125 billion, including vehicles, steel, aluminum, and food products, will follow after a 21-day consultation period. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is also considering non-tariff trade measures. The Canadian Chamber of Commerce warns the trade dispute could shrink Canada’s GDP by 2.6% and the U.S. GDP by 1.6%.
