A wildfire, known as the Post fire, is burning northwest of Los Angeles and has forced the evacuation of over 1,000 people from the Hungry Valley recreation area. The fire, which started on Saturday, has spread across approximately 50 square kilometers and is only 2 percent contained. Around 400 firefighters, equipped with 70 firetrucks and two bulldozers, are battling the blaze.
The fire is currently moving southeast towards Pyramid Lake. While no homes are under threat, two commercial buildings have been damaged. High temperatures, low humidity, and strong winds are complicating containment efforts. Water-dropping aircraft and perimeter fire lines are being utilized to control the fire. The cause of the wildfire is still under investigation.
