“Black Myth: Wukong,” based on the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West, has made a huge impact globally since its release on August 20. Within three days, over 2.415 million players were active on Steam. Discussions focus on how the game’s plot aligns with the novel, which blends mythology, religion, and adventure.
CGTN released a four-part companion guide for players, connecting the game’s characters, locations, and skills to the original novel. Iconic elements like Sun Wukong’s Somersault Cloud skill, the Flower Fruit Mountain setting, and the storyline of confronting demons all feature in both the game and the novel.
