China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) announced the completion of Haiji-2, Asia’s first independently designed and developed deepwater jacket, in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province. The jacket, with a height of 338 meters and a weight of 37,000 tonnes, sets records in Asia for both height and weight. This achievement represents a significant advancement in China’s capabilities for independently designing and constructing large-scale offshore oil and gas equipment. Haiji-2 is now recognized as the tallest offshore oil and gas production platform in Asia, boasting a total height of 428 meters and a weight exceeding 50,000 tonnes. The jacket serves as the foundation for offshore oil and gas platforms, supporting their substantial bodies and tonnage. The completion of Haiji-2 is expected to enhance the development of China’s domestic marine oil and gas key equipment supply chain.
