At the opening ceremony of the fourth Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China, swimmer Xu Jialing used her intelligent bionic left hand to light the cauldron. The bionic hand, developed by BrainCo in Zhejiang, enables Xu to make movements through sensors that receive electromyography and neural signals. Xu, who lost part of her left arm in a car accident at four, expressed her honor in being chosen for this significant task.
She emphasized that the bionic hand has enhanced her daily life, allowing her to perform tasks like holding a glass or opening a bottle. Xu, a successful Paralympic swimmer, believes that athletes like her should be viewed without pity, emphasizing that they work just as hard as any other athlete. She hopes for equal treatment and recognition for their efforts.
