1.1 million people affected by floods in India’s Assam as water inundates new areas

In Assam, incessant rain has exacerbated flooding, affecting over 1.1 million people across 28 districts, with 38 reported deaths. Authorities have established 130 relief camps and 359 distribution centers, assisting thousands displaced. Lakhimpur, Darrang, Golaghat, and Dhemaji are hardest hit. The disaster response includes personnel from state and national forces, anticipating further rainfall and worsening conditions.
