South Korea anti-corruption agency to hand over execution of Yoon’s arrest warrant to police

South Korea’s anti-corruption agency has notified police of plans to transfer an arrest warrant for impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol. Yoon faces a criminal investigation for insurrection after declaring martial law on December 3, which led to his impeachment. His arrest warrant was issued after he repeatedly failed to appear for questioning.

Last week, a standoff occurred when presidential guards blocked authorities from arresting Yoon at his compound. The arrest warrant, set to expire Monday, may be extended as the anti-corruption agency investigates further. Yoon’s lawyers argue the warrant is unlawful and plan to take legal action.
