Andres Iniesta, former Barcelona and Spain football legend, announced his retirement at 40 during a press conference on October 8, 2024. Lionel Messi paid tribute to his long-time teammate, calling him “one of the teammates with the most magic.” Iniesta and Messi won numerous titles together at Barcelona, including eight La Liga and four UEFA Champions League titles. After leaving Barcelona in 2018, Iniesta played for Japan’s Vissel Kobe and later UAE’s Emirates Club. He also had a highly successful international career, winning two European Championships and the 2010 FIFA World Cup with Spain. Iniesta expressed pride in his career and hinted at a future return to Barcelona.
