Iran says ready to work with world powers to resolve nuclear standoff

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced at the UN General Assembly that Iran is prepared to resolve its nuclear standoff with the West by re-engaging with participants of the 2015 nuclear deal, provided that the deal’s commitments are fully upheld. The 2015 agreement, which limited Iran’s uranium enrichment and stockpile, was abandoned by then-President Donald Trump in 2018, leading to severe sanctions on Iran. While efforts to revive the deal have stalled, Iran has since exceeded the deal’s limits. Western nations, including the U.S. and Israel, remain skeptical, accusing Iran of pursuing nuclear weapons under the guise of a peaceful program, which Iran denies.
