Heavy rain hit Japan’s northcentral Noto region on Saturday, causing landslides, river overflows, and flooding. The worst-affected area, Wajima in Ishikawa prefecture, saw rivers breach their banks, and one person is missing. Authorities issued top-level rain warnings, urging residents to take precautions. Up to 20 cm of rainfall is expected within 24 hours. Rescue operations are underway, with the Self Defense Force dispatched to assist. The region is still recovering from a deadly earthquake earlier this year, which killed over 370 people and caused significant damage to infrastructure.
