UNICEF says six million children in SE Asia affected by Typhoon Yagi

Typhoon Yagi has caused deadly floods and landslides across Southeast Asia, affecting nearly six million children, according to UNICEF. The storm, which hit Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar, has disrupted access to clean water, education, healthcare, food, and shelter. In Myanmar, almost 400,000 people have been displaced. The UN’s World Food Programme plans to provide emergency food aid to half a million people. The increasing severity of storms like Yagi is linked to climate change, disproportionately impacting children in the region.
