The closing ceremony of the 2024 Paralympics in Paris will be a massive dance party, with 24 DJs performing techno and dance music at the Stade de France. Thomas Jolly, the artistic director for both the Olympics and Paralympics ceremonies, aims to transform the stadium into the “biggest dance floor” to celebrate the event’s end. Like the opening ceremony, the dance floor will be inclusive, featuring people with disabilities.
Jolly has had a busy summer, directing the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, which was praised but also sparked controversy. A scene featuring French singer Philippe Katrine as Bacchus, the Roman god of wine, was criticized by some as mocking the Catholic Church. Despite receiving social media threats, Jolly stood by his work, with support from leaders like President Macron. He confirmed that the controversy did not result in any changes to the ceremonies.
