The Thailand-Laos cross-border passenger train service began its trial run on Friday, enhancing rail connectivity between the two countries and linking with the China-Laos railway. According to the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), the train route runs from Bangkok, crosses the border at Nong Khai, and reaches Khamsavath Station in Vientiane. Ekarat Sriarayanphong, bureau chief of the SRT governor, stated that this new service will significantly improve rail transport between Thailand and Laos, promote border trade, and strengthen Thailand’s position as a major global tourism hub. It is also expected to boost economic, trade, and tourism collaboration between Thailand and its neighboring countries. The passenger train service will officially begin operations on July 19.
