Stormy Daniels to testify in Trump hush money trial, media reports say
Stormy Daniels is set to testify as a witness in Donald Trump’s ongoing criminal trial on Tuesday. The trial revolves around allegations that Trump concealed a $130,000 payment made to Daniels by his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, just before the 2016 election. Cohen claims Trump instructed him to facilitate the payment to keep Daniels silent about an alleged 2006 affair. Prosecutors argue that Trump improperly classified reimbursements to Cohen as legitimate business expenses, suggesting it was part of an unlawful effort to influence the 2016 election by silencing individuals with damaging information. Trump, currently campaigning for reelection, pleads not guilty to 34 felony charges related to falsifying business records and denies any sexual encounter with Daniels. Prosecutors have presented evidence, including Trump’s signature on payments, to establish his involvement in an illegal cover-up scheme during his presidency.
