North Korean leader Kim Jong Un oversaw the test-fire of a newly developed submarine-launched strategic cruise missile named “Pulhwasal-3-31,” as reported by the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). The test involved two cruise missiles fired by the DPRK navy, flying above eastern waters for over 7,000 seconds before hitting the designated island target. According to KCNA, the test did not impact the security of neighboring countries and was unrelated to the regional situation. Kim emphasized the urgency of nuclear weaponization for the country’s navy, considering it a crucial requirement for building a state nuclear strategic force. He outlined important tasks to achieve nuclear weaponization of the navy and expand state nuclear deterrence in diverse ways.
