Four astronauts, including Türkiye’s first, arrive at space station

A four-man crew, including Turkey’s first astronaut, arrived at the International Space Station (ISS) through a mission organized entirely by Texas-based startup Axiom Space. The crew, launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, autonomously docked with the ISS about 37 hours after liftoff. The Axiom-3 crew, led by Michael López-Alegría, will spend approximately two weeks conducting over 30 scientific experiments focused on the effects of spaceflight on human health and disease. The multinational team also includes Italian Air Force Colonel Walter Villadei, Swedish aviator Marcus Wandt, and Alper Gezeravci, a Turkish Air Force veteran and fighter pilot, marking Turkey’s first human spaceflight. The mission represents Axiom Space’s latest commercial initiative for private astronauts on the ISS.
