Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has ordered a “joint military action” by the Bolivarian National Armed Forces in eastern Venezuela, citing a perceived “threat” from Britain. Maduro alleges that the presence of a British military ship in the waters of neighboring Guyana violates a recent agreement between Venezuela and Guyana. Despite diplomatic efforts, Maduro states that Venezuela will respond in a “proportional” manner, invoking actions within the bounds of international law. The President deems the British attitude “unacceptable” and activates the FANB joint military action in the eastern Venezuelan Caribbean and the country’s Atlantic front, named General Domingo Antonio Sifontes 2023.
