During a daily press briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin referred to Kissinger as a “dear old friend” of the Chinese people, recognizing his role as a pioneer and builder of China-U.S. relations. Wang emphasized Kissinger’s historic contributions to normalizing ties between the two nations, expressing the Chinese people’s gratitude for his sincere devotion. Kissinger, who passed away at the age of 100 on Wednesday, received condolences from Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who separately conveyed messages to Kissinger’s family and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
