The 2023 China Film Festival began in Yangon on November 23rd, aiming to boost the film industry and share cultures through art.
The event, lasting five days, is hosted at the Chinese Cultural Center and features five Chinese films and series. Notable films include the documentary “A Bite of China” and the popular series “Journey to the West.”
All films are translated for Myanmar audiences, offering a glimpse into China’s diverse cultures over the years. At the opening ceremony, Dr. Zheng Zhihong, the Minister Counsellor from the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar highlighted the festival’s goal of strengthening relations and sharing lifestyles through art.
U Maung Maung Ohn, Myanmar’s Union Minister for Information, welcomed the festival as a positive endeavor that captures public attention and expressing interest in film industry collaboration between the two countries, especially within Belt and Road Initiative projects. The event saw the presence of representatives from the Myanmar Film Industry and the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar.
The China Film Festival is scheduled to run from November 23rd to November 27th. The selected films will be screened at 3 PM local time at the Chinese Cultural Center in Yangon, and admission is free for all interested attendees.
