Billionaire and PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel may have been an FBI informant, according to a report by Business Insider. Thiel allegedly began providing information to an agent specializing in political corruption and foreign-influence campaigns in the summer of 2021. Thiel’s status as a “confidential human source (CHS)” suggests a long-term relationship with the FBI. Business Insider’s sources, including political figure Charles Johnson, confirmed Thiel’s registration as an informant. Thiel’s reports focused on foreign contacts and Silicon Valley activities, rather than his domestic political connections. This collaboration is seen as part of Thiel’s distancing from former President Trump and the broader MAGA movement, which has been critical of federal law-enforcement agencies.
