Maroc Telecom, the largest telecoms operator in Morocco, reported a 2.3 percent increase in first-half profit, reaching 2.9 billion dirhams ($300 million). The rise was attributed to efficient cost containment. The company’s consolidated revenue also grew by 4.7 percent to 18.39 billion dirhams, with its African subsidiaries contributing significantly, driven by the growth of mobile data and mobile money services in those regions. Maroc Telecom operates in several African countries and has a total customer base of 75 million. The company is majority-owned by the UAE’s Etisalat (53%), with the Moroccan state holding a 22% stake.
