Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein joined the Chinese Embassy’s Thingyan Celebration

Chinese Embassy in Yangon organized the pre-Thingyan celebration on Thursday. Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein and representatives from Yangon Hluttaw and different associations joined the celebration held in the evening.                                                                                      

Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Hong Liang, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein gave remarks on the celebration aiming to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Myanmar and China.

Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein said, “Responsible persons led by the ambassador and wife would celebrate the pre-Thingyan occasion at the Embassy every year and I really appreciate it. Thingyan is one of Myanmar’s significant days, marking the new year for Myanmar people. I would like to say thanks to the family of the Embassy as China takes interest and celebrates the Myanmar culture. At this time of the new year, we reflect what we did in previous year and contemplate our plan for the new year. So, it is such an important time of the year for Myanmar people.”

Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Hong Liang said, “The Chinese Embassy would like to extend best wishes to Myanmar people who are observing the new year in coming Thingyan occasion. Thank you for your presence. May you be blessed with health, wealth and auspiciousness to you. We share the similar culture. Many years ago, Chinese Foreign Minister Zhou En Lai visited Myanmar and celebrated Thingyan with U Nu and other ethnic people.”

U Tin Maung Tun, Speaker, Yangon Region Hluttaw said, “We have witnessed that people in Yunan and people in Myanmar share the same culture. We saw people in Yunan celebrating Thingyan festival. So I want to wish people in Yunan happiness like Myanmar people are happy at this Thingyan.”

A distinguished guest who joined the celebration said, “Responsible persons from different organizations are invited to the Thingyan celebration at the Embassy. And I also got invited and so I joined. I wish happiness and growth for the bilateral friendship as well as the ambassador and his wife and the embassy staff.”

The celebration at the Embassy features the entertainment by dance troupes and famous pop singer and the banquet.
